Federal Defenders seeks to
recruit attorneys who strive for excellence, are willing to battle time and again against all odds,
and who are committed to toiling tirelessly to protect the rights of the indigent accused. We attend
national recruitment fairs searching for motivated and dedicated new graduates to join our team.
Federal Defenders always welcomes applications from attorneys finishing judicial clerkships and
other significant legal positions. Even if there are no current openings for attorney positions,
we actively recruit year round to fill positions as they become available.
Legal
Intern Recruitment
Federal Defenders seeks to recruit law students who wish to work in an
office dedicated to the zealous defense of the indigent accused.
During the school year, Federal Defenders welcomes law students from
the three local law schools. These interns invariably earn school credit
for their internship experiences. While summer internships are also open
to local students, they are extremely competitive because Federal Defenders
recruits for these positions at national recruitment fairs. Summer internships
are unpaid and thus students are encouraged to seek alternate sources of funding.

Jury Assistant Interns
Federal Defenders accepts undergraduate interns to assist our in-house jury consultant maintain jury records, observe and participate in jury selection for criminal trials, conduct post-trial interviews with jurors, write post-trial interview reports and assist with statistical and case specific research projects. We look for mature, self starters who have the ability to work independently. Interviewing, report writing and WordPerfect processing skills are required. This is an unpaid, credit only internship.
