Michele A. McKenzie
Supervisory Attorney
Stanford University,
School of Law, J.D
Smith College, B.A.
Michele McKenzie came to Federal Defenders as a trial attorney in 2000. She
chose this office for its national reputation of excellence as well as the aggressive
and effective measures taken by its attorneys to defend the rights of the
indigent accused. Michele received her own training as a trial and appellate
attorney through Federal Defenders' extensive in-house programs.
As a member of both the "New Attorney Training Committee" and the
"All Attorney Training Committee," Michele is now actively involved
in keeping Federal Defenders the best training office in the country. She is
responsible for ensuring that our attorneys are aware of most recent developments
in the law. Michele works hard to provide our attorneys insight on the
ever-changing landscape of federal court practice with the hope that this
knowledge will allow each of us to provide the most comprehensive defense to
our clients.
Michele was promoted to Supervisory Attorney/Trial Team Leader in 2004. In
addition to maintaining her own trial and appellate caseload, she collaborates
with newer attorneys on their cases. In her role as Trial Team Leader, Michele
has the opportunity to see the extensive training and inherent passion in our
attorneys combine to result in superior representation of each Federal Defender
client
